Business Cloud Computing Introduction

Business Cloud Computing Introduction

The benefits of cloud computing for business have been touted everywhere recently, but in order to understand whether these benefits can be realized for your own business a cloud computing introduction is essential.

Cloud computing can best be understood as an extreme form of outsourcing in which hardware ownership and operation, software version updating, data storage and backup and some other functions as well are all outsourced to a single vendor. Hardware is usually located at the cloud vendor site, where massive racks of servers and farms of storage devices maintain data for many users. Data and programs are accessed remotely by users via the Internet. The benefits of this structure come from economies of scale, because a large vendor is able to make more efficient use of personnel and computing resources, meaning they can charge less for usage.
